NEW!! - UTAH CCW PERMIT:

Powers Security Training is now offering the Utah Concealed Weapons Permit Class.  This class is unique in that you do not have to be a resident of the State of Utah in order to apply for and receive a permit.  In fact, if you do not have any disqualifying convictions, the State of Utah must issue you a permit.  This permit is valid in approximately 32 states, EXCLUDING CALIFORNIA, but including Nevada!  Click on this link to find out if the state you are interested in is included:  The permit in Utah is valid for 5 years and has a nominal fee for re-issuance.  There is no class to take to renew your permit.  The class to get the Utah permit is approximately 4 hours long.  We will provide fingerprinting, a passport style photograph and notary services.  When you finish class, all you will have to do is attach the application fee and put the application in the mail.  Please contact us with any further questions and schedule a UTAH CCW class today!

How Do I get a concealed weapons permit?

Applicants are advised, a concealed weapons permit, in the State of California is a privilege, not a Right! We suggest you go to your local police agency or the Sheriff and apply for a permit. We suggest you first think about the reasons you might need a concealed weapons permit. Agencies are reluctant to issue permits based upon a recreational reason or upon your “second amendment right”. Please understand a permit is issued for “cause” and you need to articulate a reason for the agency to issue a permit. This reason should include issues which are not optional, ie: camping, hiking, biking, horseback riding, desert exploring etc. Valid reasons for agencies to issue the permit often include the following: employment or business related reasons, the applicant has become a victim of a crime, is the holder of a restraining order, is the subject of threats, lives in a remote location and must drive long distances at night, or has otherwise become a “target”. You will need to articulate the reasons for your needing a permit and remember, personal protection is often not a valid reason. You may need a permit for personal protection, you will however need to disclose to the agency the underlying causal factors for your need for personal protection.
